Town of Bronson Breast Cancer Awareness Walk & Rally
The Town of Bronson is promoting October Is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Pink signs and banners will dot the landscape of the Bronson Town Hall at 650 Oak St. and the Dogan S. Cobb Municipal Building at 660 E. Hathaway Ave. At Town Hall, goody bags with valuable information brochures, as well as trinkets and giveaways will be available to residents who visit. On our pink ribbons, put the name of a breast cancer survivor, fighter or loved one lost to this disease.
The town’s focus on Breast Cancer Awareness will culminate in a Walk & Rally on Oct. 25, from 10 am to 1 pm. Meet at the James H. Cobb Park, 220 Picnic St., at 10 am where vans and buses will transport walkers to the Dogan S. Cobb Municipal Building. From there, we are hoping for a “sea of pink” as walkers, or riders on individual scooters, make their way back to the park. The Town of Bronson will provide bottled water for event participants. After the walk, a rally will be held with various speakers talking about the fight against this dreaded disease.
We hope everyone will attend this event and help keep Breast Cancer Awareness in the forefront.

Welcome to the Town of Bronson, Florida!

The original settlement of Bronson consisted of a saw mill and trading post. Logging was a big industry in the area, as was the growing of citrus. The area around Bronson reportedly had about 75 different orange groves. In the early years, Bronson was a crossroads town and an important stop along the route of the railroad, but as the land began to be logged out, the hard freezes in the 1890s destroyed the orange groves. Levy County provides Bronson with a local library branch. The Bronson Public Library was built by the Felburn Foundation founder, J. Phil Felburn. The Levy County Public Library System is a member of PAL (Putnam, Alachua and Levy County Public Library Cooperative).
